Michael Mercandetti hails from the great city of Rochester, NY. Upon graduation from high school, Michael found success as an actor at Ithaca College in upstate New York. There, as a student of the BFA Acting program, he landed his first college role as the understudy to Matt Sampson's Messenger in the hit musical 1776, directed by J. Fred Pitt.
Fellow understudies Benjamin P. Wilson and Brantley Aufill had nothing but great things to say about him. "Working as an understudy with Mike was an experience," recalls Aufill. "he had this never say die attitude."
Following that, Mike's next big break coincidentally starred his fellow understudies Wilson and Aufill. The three of them acted up a storm in the No-Bucks production of "Tom & Jerry," directed by Boring, Oregon native Aaron Ford. In this, Michael played the apprentice to Wilson's hit man, while Aufill played many different characters, each being offed by the men. Mercandetti catpured the character's decent into madness with "Pecii-like" perfection.
After an unexpected "discontinued" status was handed down from the theater department, Mercandetti happily assumed the role of a BA student for some time, before eventually leaving college early to pursue his dreams of stardom.
When last we heard from him, he was acting beautifully at the 13th Street Repertory Company here in NYC, and is finding success in making feature films.
