Boy, this east coast/west coast time difference thing works out great for my online gaming. I play COD with you guys from 7-9, then when all of you go to bed,
the Mok shows up fresh from work and we play from 12:30-2.
If you have the opportunity to play with Mok from 4 to 5 AM, I highly recommend it. It is so choice. |

So, quite a few of you know already, but I'll go ahead and share. I just won the First Boards Award for Agency Producer.
What is that? 'Boards is an advertising magazine. Every year they hold what are called the First Boards Awards. "First", meaning that if it's your first year or so in that category (editing, directing, or in my case, producing), you're eligible. Last year was my first year as a full producer, so I submitted some work I did last year. And last Thursday, at a big party at the Canal Room, it was announced that I won. I got this snazzy award:
And in this month's issue, this article will appear:
(Photo by Kluv) If you'd like to see the reel I submitted (and it's not the only work I did last year, of course), check here, and click on "Agency Producer" (the one with the Vicks shield). f |

Rookie of the year is it? Or is it the Freshman MVP? Anyway, many congrats on the coolly futuristic looking trophy and sweet pic in the mag! |

I just got it, but didn't play any of the maps with people. Walked around a bit in the Creek one, that's massive- and the killhouse is just going to be
hilarious. Imagine 12 people running around the basement of your house with guns. Funny.

Same here. Just got to play two of the levels before sleep. Chinatown is fucking crazy -- you can go up into apartments and run in the street almost anywhere.
Forgot how confusing things are when you first play a new map. Also got to play the TV Station level, which was also pretty freaking awesome. Much bigger than
I expected, too.

Dude, my wife said she woke up and could hear me giggling in the other room when we were playing that. I still don't know how Brantley kicked the shit out
of us like that.
I can only imagine what madness we'll be able to do in GTA4........... |

I live a few blocks from a Best Buy, so as I walked over there, I was amazed by the sheer number of 25-35 year old guys that looked just like me walking away
from BB with GTAIV in their hands. Seriously, in the 15 minute walk I must have seen 12 guys.
It's sitting in the living room, calling my name. |

I will say this: the first time you fly through a windshield or see a cop limp away with a broken arm, it's pretty cool.

I flew out my windshield, over the guardrail, and into the ocean. Awesome.
Also, my favorite show so far is "The Men's Room" with Bas Rutten. I think I'm the only one who watches MMA, but Bas is a former UFC champ and a legend in the sport. He's also fucking hilarious. He does commentary on HDNet fights now. But, you guys might remember him from this video: BANNG! BANNG! PS -- Did anyone else go to the Beer Garden in "Steinway" for a drink or game of darts yet? Wow.

"The Men's Room" is good, I also like "Republican Space Rangers" Did you find the drug dealer that gives you $100 just for coming to
America. Plus I like that you can customize where you will use the SIXAXIS, playing darts gets more challenging that way

I haven't met the drug dealer that gives you $100 bucks yet. Is he on the street, or is it part of a mission? I need to do more walking around the city.
I'm still very early in the game, though -- just met Little Jacob (voiced by Coolie Ranx!!!).
I also haven't turned on the Sixaxis controls -- I hadn't heard anything too positive about them yet, but if you think Darts are more interesting that way, I'll give it a shot... We should all really try some multiplayer (I'm sure the rest of you have) at some point this weekend. Hopefully tonight or maybe tomorrow night? |

Duckles and I did multiplayer for 4+ hours the other night, mostly just he and I in a room. I tell you, there were times when we were laughing for 10 minutes
straight. Sooooo much fun.

Fellow GTA'ers -- if you've been having intermittent PS3 lock-ups while playing the game (I've been having them every now and again, sometimes
during a mission, sometimes during loading) -- it seems the culprit is the way the game checks for your internet connection. If for some reason, something goes
screwy and you get disconnected from the PSN while playing, and the game looks for it (as it does every two minutes), then your system will lock up.
They still don't have a patch for this -- but if you disable your internet connection in the XMB, it seems to do the trick. Obviously, you need the internet connection on to play multiplayer online -- but if you're just looking to ride solo around the city, you can go ahead and turn it off. I did, and played 2.5 lock-free hours of the game last night. Hopefully Rockstar will fix this soon. In the meantime, if anyone is looking to get some online GTA going, best to shoot off a text message to check, because we might be playing the game -- even if it doesn't look like it. |
